October Message

Ladies of the Household,

Well, Fall is upon us and nature is dressing herself in all the beautiful colors of reds, oranges, browns, and so forth.  Fall is also an indicator of things that are coming up, such as the Four Star Bazaar and Thanksgiving and all those special holidays.

Please try to contribute your time and/or some goodies to help the Bazaar be a success.  Nile will be having a booth as usual, so please help if you can.

I want to thank the Alpena Nile Club again for their generous monetary gift to the CRA and for the wonderful gifts they purchased and contributed to the Cincinnati Shrine Hospital.  As you well know, your hard work and efforts are very much appreciated.  Thanks again for the wonderful weekend we shared with you.

I also want to thank the Nile ladies and their husbands for traveling up to Alpena.  We had 13 there from Saginaw.  The Nile Club in Alpena certainly does appreciate our visit, and we certainly had a lot of fun.

Please remember to mark your calendars to remember to attend the Nile meeting on November 10 to help celebrate Nile's Founder's Day!

Sickness

I spoke with Past Queen Mary Alice Parcell.  She said she is doing much better.  She has been having some problems with her asthma, and she had to spend some time in the hospital.  Past Queen Helen Robinson is doing much better.  She was well enough to accompany me in my car and share a room in Alpena, which I really appreciated.  I would like to thank her again, thanks PQ Helen.

I also heard that Princess Alice Tallon is still in the nursing home recuperating, and Princess Millie Foutch is still in Frankenmuth Tender Care.  Please try and send them a card so they know they are always remembered and keep them in your daily prayers.

God Bless you all and keep you safe, well, and happy.

Nile Love,

Queen Yvonne

Noodles, Peanut Brittle, and the Christmas Bazaar

G'day all!

At our last meeting, it was decided that were going to try something new and make noodles to sell for the Christmas Bazaar.

It has gotten plenty of positive feedback, and we have 2 bags sold already!

We are meeting on October 22nd at 9 AM to make the noodles.  We have 2 noodle machines and plenty of help for that day.

We are also making Peanut Brittle from Helen Robinson's famous recipe on November 2nd at 9 AM.  This is to be sold at the Bazaar too.

Speaking of the Bazaar, it is November 7th from 9 AM to 3 PM with lunch served from 11 AM to 2 PM (or whenever the food runs out).  We have assignments for who's working where, but if you want to come by and relieve people at the craft and baked goods tables, feel free.  It will be lots of fun, and I hope everyone can come out and buy stuff.

Also, please note that drop off for the Bazaar will be Friday, November 6th in the afternoon.  I am not clear on the time right now, but when I am, I will post again.

Unit Dinner

As the president of the Pagentry Unit, I would like to have a dinner sometime in December for Unit members.

This is a chance for fellowship and fun.  Family members are invited (spouses, etc).

I am not sure about where we will be going; to finalize plans, I would like to have a meeting of the Unit members AFTER the regular session on October 14th.  If you're in the Unit and know of someone who is but doesn't have access to this blog, please tell them about the meeting so we can talk about this really quickly.  It should only be about ten minutes, and I was planning on having right after the regular session.

I will announce it in Session under "Good of the Order" or something.

Again, this should be less than TEN minutes.  I want to keep it short.

Princess Tirzah, Amy, Pagentry Unit President

I'm excited about this.  In addition to RSS, this is another way to get the word out on new things happening in our Temple.  If you have feedback, feel free to shoot me an email (rpgirl1981[at]gmail[dot]com).
