Alpena Visit

Our Alpena visit is coming up on September 26th.

Details:
  • Dinner costs $12. Contact Princess Royal PQ Nancy for tickets and to pay.
  • The social hour starts at 5 pm; the meeting is at 6 pm; and the dinner is at 7 pm.
  • There will be drawings for door prizes like previous years.
  • There will be a silent auction.
  • We're staying at the Holiday Inn Express on Saturday night.  We usually meet for breakfast around 9:30 or 10 on Sunday.
I'm pretty certain that Nancy and Ellen F. will be bringing their truck/van and can help transport the hospital items back to Saginaw.

It's always lots of fun.  I hope to see as many of the membership as possible in Alpena!

HandChime Unit

I have done some initial research on starting a Handchime unit as far as costs and equipment needed for a small unit.  I will bring that information to our next stated session.

If anyone would like to hear what the music would sound like please go here, scroll to the bottom of the page, and choose any of the songs listed in the center section labeled MelodyChime® Instruments.

I also ordered a fundraising CD which I hope to have by the October stated session.  I will donate this CD to the Temple, as it will be a great tool for us as a whole for any fundraising that we may need to do in the future.

This is a handchime:

Ladies of the household, fall is just around the corner and I can not believe summer is almost gone. I want to thank every one of our officers, Past Queens and ladies of the household for making our Supreme Queen visit so successful. Supreme Queen Vesta Marshall is such a wonderful and gracious lady and we all want to wish her well in her travels, and a safe and successful year.

I want to welcome our new members Karen Wellman and Allie Wellman to Makere Temple.

I am sure everyone knows Karen is my daughter and Allie is my granddaughter. Thank you for making them feel so welcome. I know they look forward to attending the sessions and working for the good of the children as we all do.

Project: Cookbook

Hello all, your Princess Tirzah here (Amy).

As many of you know, I'm doing a cookbook for my project as Royal, but I'm getting started early.

I have copies of the form you need to fill out if you would like to contribute to the cookbook. Please call me, email me, or come to the session to get a form.

I would like to see the forms back by the October session.

This is not set in stone, but I would like the forms back in October. If you are going to Grand Chapter (for OES) do feel free to bring them to the November session if you can't get them emailed to me beforehand.

I'd like to be selling the books my Royal year, so that's why I'm starting early.

If anyone wants to help me with editing, please contact me and we can get together sometime after I've collected the recipe forms.

I look forward to seeing all the recipes you ladies have worked on!

Thank you all for your help!

July Newsletter

Summer has finally arrived and as I write this, it is hot and humid and I personally love it.

The 93rd annual Supreme Session held at London, Ontario, Canada is history. Ten of our members and two husbands attended. Five were there for the whole week and seven were there for part of the week.

The sessions were very interesting and informative. There were 1,221 voting delegates, many more ladies of the household, and quite a few husbands that went on the play day tours during the day, and then escorted their wives to the Evening Unit Performances.

The new Supreme Princess Badoura is Susan Schumacher from Oregon. The Supreme Session in 2012 will e in Portland, Oregon. How exciting for our Princess Badoura, Ellen!

Of course the highlight of the Thursday was watching Supreme Queen-elect Vesta Marshall get crowned as Supreme Queen. We all know her here at Makere, and I know we wish her well and will keep her in our prayers as she travels from temple to temple.

We received four(!) Supreme Appointments, which is very good for our small temple. They are: Past Queens Elizabeth, Sharon, Ellen Z. and Laurie. there will be a complete report at our first session in September.

Please check the calendar for the itinerary of the Supreme visits at the temples in Michigan, including Michigan City, IN and Omar temple in London. I, along with some of the other ladies, will be attending some of these visits. If you would like to travel with us, please let me know and I will make arrangements for you to go.

Please DO NOT FORGET OUR ANNUAL NILE PICNIC, Saturday July 18th at the Masonic Center on Center Rd at 2 pm. Please bring a dish to pass and your own table service. Iced tea will be provided and I will bring ham.

I hope you are having a wonderful summer so far. I look forward to being with you all at the coming events.

Nile Love,

Queen Yvonne

June Message

Yes, this is late, but these are the type of things that will be placed on this site.

The week of July 7-11 we will be in London, Ontario for the Supreme Session. Several ladies will be attending during that week. Five of us will be attending the whole week. Eight more ladies with some husbands will be there for the installation of the Supreme Queen. It should be a very informative session, plus an exciting one. Vesta Marshall from Omar Temple #111 will be crowned Supreme Queen. Sins she is well known here at our own Temple, we are looking forward to it. Congratulations, Vesta!

In 2010, the Supreme Session will be held in Indianapolis, Indiana and in 2011, it will be held in Tampa, Florida. I hope some of you can make plans to attend. It is such a spectacular and informative time.

Our annual Nile Picnic will be held on Saturday, July 18th at 2 pm. Queen Yvonne Szagesh will be furnishing ham and iced tea. Bring a dish to pass and your own place setting. We will have a good time!

The Supreme Queen's visit is on Thursday, September 3rd so please get your reservations into the recorder by August 20th. Price is $12.50 for the banquet and husbands are welcome.

Sympathy and Distress:

Princess Barbara Caswell's husband, Past Potentate Jim Caswell has passed away. God bless you and your family, Barb; you are in all of our prayers.

PQ Mary Young has been under the weather for this past month, with back problems. She is doing much better. Please keep her in your prayers as well.

Princess Alzerta Holmes is recovering from some complicated shoulder surgery.

Please keep all of of these ladies in your prayers, and if you can, send them a card to let them know you're thinking of them. It will be appreciated.

Have a wonderful summer, and don't forget about the picnic or your reservations for the Supreme Queen's banquet.

Nile Love,

Queen Yvonne Szagesh
